Tips for Coloring the Great Outdoors
Summer is the season for getting outside and enjoying the grass and sand! Of course, our summer printable coloring pages abundantly feature these wonderful natural elements! Learning to color these is not difficult and can be quite fun and relaxing.
Coloring Grass and Sand
The key to coloring grass or sand lies in creating texture. Choose a light-medium base color and fill in your area. Use whatever type of coloring tool you prefer for filling in large areas: markers, colored pencils, or even chalk pastels (blended into paper with a cotton ball or sponge) work well.
Next, gather some pencils, pens or fine-point markers in darker shades of your base color and get to work adding some finer detail! This is the fun part. For sand, dot your darker colors all over your base color until you are satisfied with the texture. For grass, draw lines like grass blades, or just use the darker shades to accent grass detail that already exists in the coloring page.
Finish your sand or grass off with some white highlights. This captures the look of natural reflection from the sun.
