Here are our favorite tips to make your unicorn coloring pages look truly enchanted—with glitter, shimmer, texture, and even a bit of DIY magic. 

1. Collect a “Magic Kit” of Supplies

To get those dreamy, glimmering effects, gather up a few art supplies. We suggest:

• Glitter glue
• Glitter or metallic gel pens
• Chalk pastels
• Stick-on gems, sequins, or small stickers
• Washi tape (in rainbow, glitter, or star patterns)
• Cotton balls or small pom-poms
• Colored cardstock or pastel paper

2. Give Your Unicorn a Magical Background

Unicorns don’t thrive in ordinary places—Be sure to give her an extra-special background!

• Rainbow Sky – Blend soft pastel colors across the sky. Add sparkles with glitter glue or pens.
• Starry Twilight – Create a Purple-to-blue gradient sky with blended shading. Highlight glimmering stars, comets, and a crescent moon.
• Aurora Borealis – Shade the background in green, purple, and blue waves like the northern lights swirling around the unicorn.

3. Add Glittery Highlights

Once you’ve colored your unicorn, use glittery glue, pens or markers to accent special details, such as her horn or beauty marks. You can also add extra glitter or shine to rainbows, butterflies, flowers, jewels, stars in the sky, or anywhere else you wish! These highlights will add dimension and sparkle without making a huge mess (just let it dry flat!).

4. Bedazzle with Stickers & Gems

Unicorns are obsessed with jewels and can never have too many! Add mini gem stickers, sequins or glittery star stickers as accents. Charm your unicorn with sparkles for her mane and tail, or give her some special jewelry. Don’t forget to dress up her butterfly and flower friends too! Sprinkle some “jewels” or stars across the scene for a final sparkly touch.

5. Make It 3D!

Have fun adding tiny Pom-poms as texture for clouds or grass. Or try pulling apart and gluing cotton balls for softer, wispier clouds.

6. Turn It Into Wall Art

Once your masterpiece is finished, frame it! You can:

• Use fun, sparkly washi tape to create a border
• Mount the page on colored cardstock
• Display on the fridge, in a bedroom, or anywhere it can make you happy when you see it!
